Anthony Rizzo Signs With New York Yankees

Rizzo Leaves Cubs After 10 Years

First baseman Anthony Rizzo was traded to the New York Yankees on Thursday, ending his 10-year tenure with the Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs received minor league outfielder Kevin Alcantara and a player to be named later in exchange for Rizzo.

Yankees Bolster Lineup With Rizzo

Rizzo, a three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner, provides the Yankees with a much-needed power bat in the middle of their lineup.

The 32-year-old is a career .272 hitter with 251 home runs and 851 RBIs.

Cubs Begin Rebuild

The trade of Rizzo is a sign that the Cubs are beginning a rebuild.

The Cubs have traded away several key players in recent months, including Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, and Kyle Schwarber.

Rizzo Excited for New Challenge

Rizzo said he is excited about the opportunity to play for the Yankees.

"I'm so grateful for my time in Chicago," Rizzo said. "But I'm also excited to start a new chapter in my career with the Yankees."
